I need more energy. I need to eat better. I need to lose weight. These are some of the thoughts that have been replaying themselves in my head lately. 40 is just around the corner and I’m at a point where my body is instantly responding to what I what I eat. Late night Taco Bell runs are a thing of the past unless I want to wake up feeling like I was hit by a truck. There’s no doubt in my mind that I need to be eating less processed food and more fruits and veggies. But sometimes getting excited about veggies is hard.
Luckily for me there are savvy moms out there that get this. Missy Chase Lapine is a celebrity Chef and the creator of the wildly successful Sneaky Chef Method and series of books. I picked up her earlier book The Sneaky Chef after deciding I was ready to take the first step towards getting my family to eat healthier. The Sneaky Chef concept is all about creating nutritionally dense purees and incorporating them into other foods you don’t have issues eating. I was pleasantly surprised by how undetectable the vegetables were, which is perfect for picky eaters (kids and adults) that are deterred by colorful foods with different textures.
As my son got older we stopped using the recipes as much. As kids age they begin to out grow the things they once liked and he was eventually just too cool for No Harm Chicken Parm, Power Pizza, Incognito Burritos, Guerilla Grilled Cheese and Brainy Brownies. I’d heavily considered purchasing The Sneaky Chef: How to Cheat on Your Man (In the Kitchen!), but for one reason or another that never happened. However, Missy’s tasty recipes and sneaky chef concept often came to mind.
I was so excited to hear that she recently came out with a new book called Sneaky Blends: Supercharge Your Health with More Than 100 Recipes Using the Power of Purees. My mouth started watering flipping through the pages. The recipes included are clearly for a more mature palette which align perfectly with my tastes today. Although I have not had a chance to try any of the new meals or purees, previous experience tells me I’m in for a treat.
The first thing I plan to try is the Blends Cleanse™, a 3-day Body Reboot. Once I’ve tried the reboot and a few other recipes I’ll be sure to report back with another video and a more formal review.
