I posted an article yesterday about the launch issues SimCity is having. Many people are extremely upset with EA and some are demanding refunds. I personally understand that sometimes things happen and am content to hang onto my copy of the game and wait to play until everything is sorted out. I enjoyed the beta and still believe SimCity is going to be a great experience for anyone who can wait this out.
According to Maxis SVP, Lucy Bradshaw, they are close to having everything fixed. For now, things are looking better. In her blog post Lucy said:
” In the last 48 hours we increased server capacity by 120 percent. It’s working – the number of people who have gotten in and built cities has improved dramatically. The number of disrupted experiences has dropped by roughly 80 percent.”
In an effort to win back our affections, SimCity players (who have activated their game) will get an email on March 18 with instructions on how to redeem a free PC game from the EA portfolio. Personally, I would love to snag one of the new expansions for Sims 3 and am pleased with their apology gift.
