Best Indie Games on Switch You’re NOT Playing in 2019

The awesome thing about a Nintendo Switch is the insane amount of indie titles that you can take with you on the go. Previously the only way to play these amazing indies was to have a laptop with you at all times. Those things can get heavy after a while. So now with the help of the Nintendo Switch, I’m here to share with you some amazing games that are worthy of your time.

#1 Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator – The Dadrector’s Cut

Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator is exactly what it sounds like. You take on the role of your own custom Dadsona as you navigate the new city you and your daughter have moved to. Lucky for you the town is inhabited by loads of single dads. Goth Dads, Teacher Dads, Bad Dads and more. What makes this game stand out is the humor and the writing. There are dad jokes GALORE and the freedom to choose responses.

Originally released on PC in 2017 the new Dadrector’s Cut features new scenes that weren’t in the previous version as well as some new sidequests and more secrets. Within the first 5 minutes of playing I was laughing out loud at the insane amount of dad jokes. It’s colorful, hilarious, and worth your time. A Dad Dating Simulator might not be for everyone, but if you’re curious, well then Hi Curious, I’m dad.

#2 SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech

SteamWorld has already put out a number of amazing games set in different genres. This new title combines elements of RPG and Deckbuilding into a fantasy setting. The combination of all three mesh so well and with an awesome cast of mechanical friends to guide you this game is perfect for a pick-up-and-play session, or a long train/bus/home gaming session. Players build and edit their decks while also maintaining a good party structure (just like any good RPG). There is plenty of depth to the game and fans of RPGs and Deckbuilders will have lots to do when it comes to SteamWorld Quest.

#3 Over The Top Tower Defense (OTTTD)

Much like another title this short list, Over The Top Tower Defense (or OTTTD) lets you know EXACTLY what you’re in for. You play as a commander for HEROCORP ™ and your job is to “preemptively” protect Earth from a possible alien invasion. You will send your HEROCOROP ™ armies out to planets and build, upgrade, and DESTROY anything you can seen. What makes OTTTD different from the other tower defense games is that it incorporates RPG elements. You send a squad of three units to a planet, and as they progress through they will earn skill points for a skill tree. While all of this may not seem over the top, it’s the gruesome battles that make this one heck of an Over The Top Tower Defense game. Corpses, guts, bones and more stay on the battlefield. Watching other aliens wade through their fallen comrades adds a bit of a sweet spot to a game like this.

So there you have it! I’ve been playing my Switch a lot more at home before bed and while there are some really good AAA titles out right now, these indies are insanely fun and won’t break the bank. Have you picked any of these up? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
