Love cooking action games? Love adorable food? Then Bake ‘n Switch, an upcoming couch co-op and PvP party game, might be for you. The title is expected to drop on Early Access in a couple of months, and in the meantime, it’s racking up awards that make us think it just might be worth a look even in its alpha state.
Last week at Banff’s 2019 Reboot Develop Red game developers’ conference, Bake ‘n Switch walked away with three of the five Indie Awards, for Game of the Year, Outstanding Gameplay, and Visual Excellence. It has also shown up at Level Up KL’s 2019 SEA Game Awards in Malaysia, where it has been short-listed as a finalist. That conference takes place this week.
“We’re honored to be recognized by the game development community,” said Alexander L. Fernandez, CEO of developer Streamline Media Group. “Bake ‘n Switch has been a team effort and showcases the talent and capability of Streamline as well as showing what external development studios around the world can do with their own original content.”
In this super-cute game, players combine dough creatures and bake them in the oven (yes, they want to be cooked, so don’t feel like a monster), allowing them to fend off fearsome enemies such as Stickies, Mouldies, and Spores. Characters planned for launch include Ginger, Parsley, Rosemary, and Thyme. More characters will be available throughout Early Access, too, as part of regular updates to improve the game as it gets developed.
Check out this video, which is from the Early Access announcement a few months ago, if you’d like to see a sneak peek of the gameplay:
There’s been no announced launch date for the game on PC and console systems, but you can go to Steam now and add Bake ‘N Switch to your wishlist. Get beta updates and help Streamline perfect the game!
