    Quick Reviews: Nintendo Labo

With Nintendo Labo you’ll hear far fewer “I’m bored” whines this summer

We picked up Nintendo Labo for some summer fun and it’s amazing! Check out the very first of our “Quick Reviews” section on YouTube where we will bring you reviews that are short and sweet.

At $69.99 the cost of Nintendo Labo made me pause. That’s a lot of money to drop on something. After my daughter made just a couple of these cardboard crafts all of my doubts were gone.

The fact that Nintendo Labo provides the most thorough step-by-step instructions I’ve ever seen is amazing. At eight years old, Hailey was able to complete these without any assistance at all.

Nintendo Labo has kept her entertained doing one project each day so far. Then she spends the rest of the day showing everyone in the house what she made, and how it works with the game apps.

As a parent my absolute favorite part about Nintendo Labo is the discovery aspect of each creation. This isn’t just a pile of cardboard, there are high-tech sensors as well, giving my daughter an awesome educational experience as well. She is as excited about learning how things function as she is about playing the games. Clean up is easy too as any unused parts can just get tossed in the recycle bin.

We have enjoyed our time so far with Nintendo Labo and I believe you will too. This isn’t a sponsored ad. I picked this up with my own money, but if you use our link to pick up your set it helps us keep doing what we’re doing.

You can pick up Nintendo Labo on Amazon. Use our affiliate link to support the site or just click the image below to shop for Nintendo Labo and start having fun!

Daphne & Velma Blu-Ray DVD Movie Giveaway – The Mommy Gamers

**Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.**

Daphne and Velma is out on Blu-ray from Warner Bros Home Entertainment as well as Digital and DVD! If news of the smart and resourceful women of the iconic Scooby-Doo franchise coming to life in an all-new mystery isn’t exciting enough, we’ve also got a Digital, DVD and Blu-Ray combo copy to give away.

    About Daphne & Velma

Jinkies! Film stars Sarah Jeffery (Disney’s Descendants: Wicked World) and Sarah Gilman (ABC’s Last Man Standing) team up to follow the first mystery-solving adventures of Scooby-Doo’s leading ladies. As a long time lover of everything Scooby-Doo I will admit to never being able to get enough of the characters. I have also always been curious about some of their backstories. Especially Daphne and Velma.

Daphne & Velma start out as best friends who have only ever interacted online. They become best friends in spite of the fact that they have wildly different personalities. The way they met online speaks personally to the online introvert in me, and helps fuel my argument that online friendships ARE absolutely real valid friendships.

Fate eventually tosses the two girls together in real life and that’s when all the mysterious fun begins. I am not going to spoil the story-line for you, but it definitely has the same mysterious feel of some of the previous Scooby-Doo movies.

Daphne & Velma is a heartwarming movie that feels just like a straight to DVD film should. Cheesy and entertaining. But if you love these characters you are going to absolutely enjoy this movie. I very much enjoyed seeing how they portrayed Daphne and Velma and hope there are more of these featuring the rest of Mystery, Inc. Gang coming soon.

Daphne & Velma need your help!

Help Daphne & Velma solve their latest case by helping them decrypt the footage! Dial the knob and meters to just the right position to unlock the footage and move to the next challenge. You’ll trigger fun & spooky sounds right from the movie in this fun soundboard:

    Darling VoxBox Influenster Unboxing

Darling VoxBox The Mommy Gamers Influenster

I’ve been a part of Influenster for a few years now. Influenster is a site that rewards your social media prowess with products that you can enjoy in exchange for honest product reviews. I don’t have to pretend I like the things I get, and sometimes I do not like them at all. This isn’t the case with all of the products in the most recent Darling Voxbox I received. I’ve already used pretty much everything in the box. Curious what was inside? Check out this unboxing video to see what I got, and then stick around for my thoughts down below.

Instead of talking about every product in the box I’d like to highlight the one that I was the most impressed by. First off is the Live Clean gentle moisture baby lotion and tearless shampoo & wash. Because my youngest “baby” is seven I was going to pass this along to my sister who happens to still have baby age people in her house. However, when my youngest daughter did a sniff test on these products she proclaimed them hers. The lavender, aloe and chamomile scents blend together so nicely that I will admit I have used the lotion myself…recently. The products have an eco-friendly tag on them boasting 97% plant ingredients, SLS free (whatever that is) and paraben free. If those things are important to you and you enjoy hugging an amazing smelling child after bath time you should keep an eye out for their products.

Honestly, all of the products in the Darling VoxBox are being used right now and I’m not dissapointed. If you have a nice social media reach and like trying out new products you should totally check out Influenster. Or just keep coming back here from time to time to check out what we get.

Kickstarter: Oniri Islands – Children of the River

Oniri Islands children of the river The Mommy Gamers Kickstarter Review Hands On

Oniri Islands:Children of the River is a co-op adventure from Tourmaline Studio coming to tablets in winter of 2017.  With only one day left the Oniri Islands Kickstarter project has surpassed their goal, meaning this beautiful adventure and exploration game will become a reality. You still have time to get in and help them reach their stretch goals, and collect fun rewards like having your name added to the game credits, stickers, digital art goodies and more!

The Mommy Gamers Oniri Islands Children of the River Kickstarter Review Preview Hands On

My daughter Hailey and I recieved acess to a demo of Oniri Islands as well as prototypes of the Mina and Tim figurines. Mina and Tim are “smart toys” that we moved around our tablet to explore the world of Oniri Islands. The cooperative play aspect of this game is such a fun feature. Hailey and I each took control of one of the figurines and worked together to travel through maze like sections, dodging quicksand, and working together to solve puzzles. In addition to using the toys to move around, they also were used to unearth items, and collect and carry quest items. We did not recieve the masks for the characters, but based on the demo they have secret powers tied to them that help players interact with the environment in fun and unique ways.

Hailey just turned seven years old last week and she seems to be the perfect age for this app. She did get a little frustrated with a couple of the puzzles, as the demo version we played lacked a lot of guidance. However, I got the feeling that Oniri Islands is meant for exploration and creative thinking, and together we were able to put our heads together and figure out each challenge. While the demo we played was fairly short, I was very impressed with the way the story flowed. Between the lovely music, awesome visuals inspired by other games I love like Animal Crossing and Zelda Wind Waker, I look forward to adventuring through more of the Oniriverse.

To learn more about Oniri Islands visit their Kickstarter page here, and if you decide to back this wonderful game make sure to tell them The Mommy Gamers sent you!

*The Mommy Gamers recieved a demo of Oniri Islands and prototypes of the figurines for review purposes.
