What Could Be Coming to E3?

    E3 Predictions The Mommy Gamers

There will be an immense lineup, announcements, and products releasing at E3 is a great chance to see what’s coming. We’ve decided to take a sneak peek at currently what is rumored and confirmed, just so we can tantalize those thumbs for what is to come in the gaming world. Also, mark your calendars for E3 on June 12-14, 2018 in Los Angeles. E3 and GameStop typically partner and televise conferences so you can watch, and not tell your boss.

E3 The Mommy Gamers Defiance 2050

    Confirmed:

I loved Defiance, which aired as a SyFy TV show and as a video game on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Well, it was fun while it lasted and people got bored quickly since the game was supposed to tie in with the show and the show only lasted three seasons. Thanks, SyFy. Trion Worlds is bringing Defiance 2050, a reimagined shooter for today’s audience and that should mean that it is coming on PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe even VR? Who knows!

    Confirmed:

The Last of Us is beautiful and just mentioning it doesn’t do the game justice. When I first bought the PlayStation 4, I was so new to Sony, I didn’t know which games to purchase. The Last of Us was recommended and it’s amazing; from the story line to the graphics and mechanics. It truly is a treasure and there is a trailer for The Last of Us 2. My prediction is this will be on the floor to try out, and honestly, I want it now!

    Confirmed:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is another game that is more than likely going to be on the floor to gamers to test. While I personally lost faith in the franchise after the game went Halo on us all and allowed for wall running and Exo-Suits to drive us all mad, I loved the Black Ops installments. I am hoping to see more of this game in the coming weeks because it is launching this October.

E3 Call of Duty Black Ops 4

    Rumored:

Kingdom Hearts 3, the Final Fantasy Disney crossover that made a huge splash on PlayStation 2, it will be, of course, the third game in the series. While we don’t know an exact release, a hunch is that there could be an announcement at E3 for some time this year. Noting pass release dates, my guess will be holiday 2018.

    Rumored:

Borderlands 3 is rumored, I am ALL over this. I loved Borderlands and Borderlands 2, and have high hopes for the third, or fourth installment, depending on how you look at it. The last installment came out in 2012, so this is so welcome and makes gamers excited at the thought of this. Sadly, this could be a 2019 release according to the fiscal year. Although the fiscal year for 2K goes from April to March, so we could technically hope for a holiday launch. Lastly, there was a thread running around the interwebs that we could see Borderlands 3 teased June 10, just a couple days before E3.

    E3 Borderlands The Mommy Gamers

    Confirmed:

A console favorite for my kids has always been Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. Sounds like we will be seeing a third installment of the game and rumor is that it will also be on the floor. To those who are into the books, or their kids are, the Garden Warfare Volume 2 will tie in directly with the game. This is a game that makes me feel like a kid in the candy store.

    Rumored:

Animal Crossing has been a favorite and while the website has been getting a complete overhaul, we could potentially be getting some news about a game for the Switch. This is totally presumptuous of us to say, but I think that would totally be cool if they took this update and gave us something along with it.

Other games that we are totally jazzed about include: Bioshock 4, Halo 6, Battlefield, we could be seeing some Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds in there, and Super Smash Bros.

In case you want to check out some of the press conferences this year, E3 and Gamestop team up to make these conferences easy to stream if you are unable to travel to Los Angeles. Press conferences are as follows: EA on June 9 at 11 am. Microsoft June 10 at 1 pm. Bethesda on the 10th at 6:30, Ubisoft June 11 at 1 pm. Please note there are a plethora of press conferences during this event and it is still extremely early to have a full schedule. The Mommy Gamers wants to know what you are most excited about.

Farming Simulator Nintendo Switch Edition Review & Giveaway

Farming Simulator Nintendo Switch Edition allows players to take on the challenges of the modern farmer.

Farming Simulator 17 originally released to PC back in 2016. The Nintendo Switch Edition makes the farming fun more portable, but removes the ability to mod the game as PC players seem to enjoy doing. You still get the same amazing farming experience however. Explore a huge open world including a detailed North American environment, loaded with farming activities and more than hundreds of acres of land.

If driving is your thing you’ll be excited to hear that you can drive over 250 authentic farming vehicles and equipment from over 75 manufacturers, including brands such as Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra. Transport your goods in trucks and trailers, or load and drive trains to reach your destination. Outside of driving, farming life will keep you very busy as you harvest crops, tend to your livestock, take part in forestry work, and sell your products to expand and invest in your farm!

My eight year old daughter Hailey took the reigns on this review:
Farming Simulator is a fun game, but has no quest that makes it fun to play and the game gives you a tour of the game and the best part of the game is harvesting and the cute animals that produce every day you come back to the game so the game is really peaceful and the future in the game depends on what you do in the game hire workers to do jobs for you and your farm the game gives you reports too.

You can pick up a copy of Farming Simulator Nintendo Switch Edition on Amazon here, or if you’re feeling lucky…

The Mommy Gamers Podcast Episode 179: Blue Waffle is Delicious

Episode 179 of The Mommy Gamers Podcast has Blue Waffle in the title, and we suggest not googling that. With that disclaimer out of the way, this week we start things things off with jokes about spring, or the lack thereof. Carrie explains why Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher coming to Ghost Recon Wildlands in the latest update made her weepy. Once Carrie is done reminiscing, she talks in length about The Witness, a beautiful 3D puzzle game she has recently been playing on her Twitch stream.

This early access title adds more to the story line as well as animals, a museum, and lots more!

Mike Robles is back as a guest again. You might recognize his name as he has written a TON of new reviews for our site this year. He chats about playing Far Cry 5, an action-adventure first-person shooter from Ubisoft which released in March. Oh, and Mike also humble brags about getting a lot of hands on time trying out Soul Caliber 6 at the Games Developers Conference (GDC) . Keep an eye out for that game later this year.

They also chat about the Billy Mitchell controversy, people holding pop up raves in recently emptied Toys”R”Us buildings, the Blue Team’s waffles on Master Chef Jr. and so much more!

Out of Body Experiences and a Busy Mom Who Requires Wine, and Lots of It

    Hello, Mommy Gamers!

My name is Brittany, or Brie. On gaming platforms, I have some iteration of QueenBrie going on. I’m from the Pacific Northwest, a short jaunt from Olympia, Washington to be exact. I have two boys, 8 and 10, which qualifies me as the mommy part. But I game as well. I’ve been a gamer for most of my life, even as a kid on classic Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Atari and so on. When I started dating my husband, that’s when I became addicted to gaming more in the sense that it was a ritual to get friends together to play Call of Duty, Halo, or Borderlands.

This being my introductory article for The Mommy Gamers, I figured I would give you guys an insight to my life and introduce some of the weird mumbo jumbo that I believe in or am on the border about, and maybe things that really annoy me. Because it’s life and my fingers like to do all the talking.

Whether you believe in the astrology, planets and stars aligning or not, it’s been one hell of a week. Please tell me you’re with me on this one? It’s been one of those weeks where I’m thinking today is Sunday, and Wednesday I was thinking Friday would be the next morning, to only wake up Thursday thinking it would be Saturday. And it isn’t just me. It’s my neighbor, the kids, my co-workers, and everyone else so this has to be a thing, right? I mean, it can be an off week where there is just more wine consumed then normal, but I seem to think that this could be to blame?

    These are some cute kids!

To outline my week, it’s also conference week at my boys’ school, so we’ve had half days all week. Nice, right? Wrong. Monday was pretty lazy and didn’t plan on being called in to work. Tuesday was pure chaos in itself. Sent the boys to school and went in to the doctor for the annual lady visit. Not only was I there on time, but I sat in the doctor’s office till 9:50 when I finally got called back. I sat cold and naked on the table, covered in paper for another 10 minutes. Granted, these visits are typically pretty quick, getting out didn’t happen till about 10:30am. Since I was off, I took the advantage of running more errands and by the time I got home, it was time to get the kids off the bus, moving out to their conferences and then rushing home to make dinner. I went through a bottle of wine Tuesday night. Maybe we should turn this into a drinking game?

Wednesday was pretty simple and nothing too crazy; same with Thursday, although both days did feel off. Friday being payday, I spent time grocery shopping, took the kids to breakfast, vacuumed, dishes and the five loads of laundry that seemed endless, and oh the errands, but I knew had to get done at some point. On top of it, friends were coming over, so I was cooking an Easter Dinner and also went through more wine. By the evening, I realized I hadn’t had wine and I was exhausted.

It was a week where I felt so blah and lazy, parts of it went by fast, others not so fast.

But let me get through the good stuff. Remember that lovely doctor visit on Tuesday? I finally quit being lazy and picked up my prescription. With Obamacare when it was put into place, women should have a reduced cost, or no charge at all for their birth control. Granted, I had three months, she rang me up for $72.99. I grabbed my chest, hoping I had air in them. She took my prescription card and the price was $65.48. What a savings! Granted, I can get a reimbursement for scripts, on a following paycheck, I wanted to cry. Mommies, do you have a similar story?

What to Watch After Stuffing Your Face, with Wine Pairings

Easter is a time for stuffing your face with too much ham and mashed potatoes, eating a plethora of candy and sending the kids out to hunt for the eggs. Adults, beer hunts, or mini hard alcohol hunts are the way to go, just be sure to grab the beer googles while you’re doing it. Also, before any activities are happening, make sure the ham is in the over and ready to go. We don’t want Aunt Janice to be upset dinner isn’t done on time.

When you’re all done eating, there is nothing better than entering a food coma with something on your television. We at The Mommy Gamers have compiled a list of television shows and movies that you can watch after the fact. While not every movie is family friendly, we’ll make sure that we annotate movies that children should not be present. Unbutton those pants and take a load off!

Santa Clarita Diet is great with a bold red, perhaps a Syrah or a Merlot. Santa Clarita Diet has two seasons on Netflix and ready for five main courses and a dessert buffet. Drew Barrymore plays a realtor who is turned corpse eater, which is exactly how you’ll feel after eating all that ham. Joel McHale also stars as husband, Joel, also realtor and man who hides the meat for safe keeping. We give Santa Clarita Diet two thumbs up. Wait, where are my thumbs?

Peter Rabbit is a great family film to watch after filling up with snacks. We’re sure the children would enjoy this as well seeing as it’s the cutest, and I mean cutest movie out there. A wine pairing for this movie? Grab the hard stuff, grandpa might need it.

    The Mommy Gamers Easter Movies

Hop is yet another great family movie to watch as the bunny ensues the comedy, causes trouble and helps bring the cute Easter goodness. While Peter Rabbit and Hop may take some of the family time for the day, we suggest another sparkling wine with this special viewing.

Rise of the Guardians is probably the seasonal movie we will see since you could technically watch this one all year long. The movie has Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy come together to fight off darkness. How wonderful a Sauvignon would be with this film?

Nailed It is a reality TV series on Netflix that shows elaborate desserts that have been made and the bakers attempt to make them, and the not so wonderful attempts at making them. Either way, bring the sister, brother, uncle, and whomever to watch this. It’s pretty good, and you can place bets within the family on who will win the grand prize of $10,000! A Rose would be fantastic with this show!

    The Mommy Gamers Brie Haddock Movies and Wine ;

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a holiday tradition, no matter the holiday you celebrate. I prefer the 1971 version, because I can, but I guess Johnny Depp and his version are alright too if you want to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Either are good, depending on your preference. For both versions of the film, we chose a good Port to go with all the treats, or if you’re more like me, I’ll go for a slightly sweet Riesling.

Stranger Things will turn things up and scare the jeebies out of you, or just put you on the edge of your seat. Stranger Things is an awesome show that focuses on a group of kids that are playing Dungeons and Dragons. Their game comes to life, sort of, and comes out to get them. They also learn that this case has been going on for years. The town comes together to help the city end the abduction Over the two seasons, you’ll have many “what the heck” moments. For this one, grab the scotch!

The Mommy Gamers Easter Stranger Things Wine

    Want something newer?

Jumanji with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan play is this reboot with a twist! Not only is this a good movie for the whole family and full of adventure, we’ll reach for the box wine on this one so we can plop on the couch with a blanket.

The Pitches are back in Pitch Perfect 3. These girls head overseas for a USO tour and hope to be picked to go on tour with a rapper. In a turn of events, Fat Amy finds her father, or he finds her and trouble begins. The girls come together and get out of it while supporting one another the biggest changes of their lives. We think a glass of champagne over here will help keep things classy.

Pitch Perfect 3 Wine The Mommy Gamers Easter

Daddy’s Home 2 has a great line up, from Matt Damon, John Cena, to Will Ferrell and Mel Gibson. These guys try to come together in a family vacation but it has its ups and downs. While I would love to sit here and tell you all about it, the movie is currently on Redbox for your viewing pleasure. We feel an Old Fashioned or a Gibson to go along with your viewing pleasure.

Maybe you don’t want the beverage of choice to go with the movie, and that’s okay. Whatever your viewing style is, or genre, we’ve got it covered! Sit back, relax and take that well needed two-hour nap!
