Why the Campaign to Save Lucifer Was Important

    Networks should pay attention
    Lucifer

Back in May, Lucifer fans everywhere felt disappointment when they learned Fox had canceled the show after only 3 seasons. They were not about to let their favorite devil go gently into that good night, however, they used the power of social media to voice their anger. The hashtags #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer were trending on Twitter for a month. The overwhelming outcry from fans eventually led to the series being picked up by Netflix for a 4th season.

    Lucifer

How we all felt upon finding out FOX had cancelled Lucifer.

Part of what fueled the fevered campaign was the immense cliffhanger the show’s 3rd and would-be final season left on. It was a moment that fans had been waiting on for a long time, and one I will leave the specifics out of to avoid spoilers for anyone who may not have seen it yet. It was a moment that had the show not been able to continue would have been torture for its viewers. Co-showrunner, Jon Henderson, has said that he thought to end the show on such a big cliffhanger would have prevented Fox from deciding to cancel the show, but he turned out to be wrong.

    Lucifer

I think we all felt like Chloe when we saw that cliffhanger.

The campaign is a lesson that TV networks can learn about how viewers today are consuming their media. Fox’s reason for canceling Lucifer was due to low live ratings the show had been receiving. However, people are no longer watching their favorite shows the traditional way. In a world where we have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video it is all too easy to watch TV at convenience instead of making sure to watch a show as it airs live.

    Lucifer

What would we do if we didn’t get to see this face on our TV’s anymore?

If network executives are looking solely towards ratings in order to decide how popular a series is, they are looking at it the wrong way. The #SaveLucifer campaign along with the campaigns to save shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Expanse is proof of this. They should start looking at all the numbers for their shows, not just the live ratings. Social media interactions, the numbers on Hulu, Netflix, and other binge sites are other numbers they should take into consideration.

    Lucifer

Lucifer wasn’t going to go out without a fight.

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis (Doctor Who) as Lucifer, Lauren German (Hostel: Part II) as Detective Chloe Decker, Lesley-Ann Brandt (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena) as Mazikeen, D.B. Woodside (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Amenadiel, and Kevin Alejandro (The Returned) as Detective Dan Espinoza.

The Mommy Gamers Podcast Episode 179: Blue Waffle is Delicious

Episode 179 of The Mommy Gamers Podcast has Blue Waffle in the title, and we suggest not googling that. With that disclaimer out of the way, this week we start things things off with jokes about spring, or the lack thereof. Carrie explains why Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher coming to Ghost Recon Wildlands in the latest update made her weepy. Once Carrie is done reminiscing, she talks in length about The Witness, a beautiful 3D puzzle game she has recently been playing on her Twitch stream.

Mike Robles is back as a guest again. You might recognize his name as he has written a TON of new reviews for our site this year. He chats about playing Far Cry 5, an action-adventure first-person shooter from Ubisoft which released in March. Oh, and Mike also humble brags about getting a lot of hands on time trying out Soul Caliber 6 at the Games Developers Conference (GDC) . Keep an eye out for that game later this year.

They also chat about the Billy Mitchell controversy, people holding pop up raves in recently emptied Toys”R”Us buildings, the Blue Team’s waffles on Master Chef Jr. and so much more!

The Mommy Gamers Podcast Episode 178: Pickle Juice Slushies

Carrie and Marcia are back this week with the cure to your craving for Pickle Juice Slushies. Kidding, they are absolutely confused as to why pickle juice slushies are trending right now. But the ladies are always here to cover those trending hot topics.

Marcia celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with some traditional corned beef and cabbage, while the mostly Irish Carrie claims she prefers the other other white meat. You’ll have to listen to see what it is. The ladies argue a little bit over whose game is better, and there’s some odd chat about llamas. They also chat Lucifer, Star Wars and all the stuff about games, kids and life.

The Mommy Gamers Podcast Episode 177: Of White Russians and Crunchy Doritos

This week Marcia and Carrie bring some Doritos to the podcast to discuss the trending lady-like Doritos topic. As you’d expect they chomped down on their Doritos in the most non-ladylike fashion. Keeping with the junk food theme the ladies also chat about a nutritional study claiming pizza IS a healthy breakfast choice. Gaming talk covers Staxel, Super Lucky’s Tale, Halo 5 and a lot more.

Listen to Episode 177 of The Mommy Gamers Podcast for that, and the story behind the white russian in the picture for this episode. Hint: It has to do with breast milk…again.

The Mommy Gamers Podcast Episode 175: Baby Needs A Biscuit

Carrie and Marcia present to you the final podcast of 2017. We have enjoyed bringing you yet another year full of entertaining conversations about gaming, hot topics, television, movies, and butts. This week the ladies talk about the hot garbage mess that is PUBG on Xbox One, the Fortnite 50 vs 50 Battle Royale mode, Predator on Ghost Recon, and Star Wars Battlefront II. Marcia once again paid good money to check out the latest shenanigans from the folks at Cards Against Humanity, sharing some of their “Saves America” campaign. Carrie gets to say “I told you so” about Lucifer, with only minimal spoilers (you’ve been warned).

We are now including the YouTube version of the Twitch live stream in these posts, as well as the audio version at the bottom of the post.
